If you are from the great north west then this boat is probably not new to you. Originally
designed in early 20th century to conquer the rapids of such rivers as its namesake the
McKenzie it was refined until the 1940's when it was given a transom to hold a motor. It
has been virtually the same design ever since. This is not just another old boat design,
Today it is the standard for commercial fishing guides throughout the north west United
States. This Boat comes with the plans for the optional motor mount.

These boats are not only perfect for river
travel, they are well within the capabilities of
the home builder. The boat is simple
construction of plywood panels over glued
frames made of white oak. Because of the
extreme rocker of the hull, it can turn on a dime
to avoid any water hazards you may be
heading for. As you become more adept at
handling this boat you will spend much of your
time looking over maps to fine your next great
adventure. This boat also has the added
benefit of being easy to trailer on a flat bed
utility trailer. If a canoe is more your style then
take a look at the Prospector.

I have put together the Epoxy kit that I use during the building of these boats on the videos and have
made them available here for your convenience. These kits have the hardener, the right resin for
laying up glass cloth, the thickening agent for your gluing needs as well as calibrated pumps for
measuring the hardeners and LV resin. Choose the right kit for your working environment.
